Cold Frosty Morning

xprxo.com Beautiful, nostalgic, and pretty tune!

...a couple years ago she was playing a show on a super hot Florida folk festival stage. When she finished her set: She came offstage and handed her baritone banjo to a friend to carry. As soon as he took it the entire banjo *exploded*-- all the strings and the drum head broke at the same time. Fittings and frets and tuning pegs launched everywhere. People were picking up pieces of baritone hardware all over the stage while she held the tone ring & said there were several other reports of exploding instruments that day. Mary Z shreds! about

Cold Frosty Morning is usually played peppy in old time circles, but we always thought this tune had much more heart. We slowed it down, added an original bridge, and backed it with Celtic chords. Then Ellen let her mandolin dance around the banjo melody. Hope it breaks your heart--just a little :) Lame Horse banjo, Gibson mandolin, Ken Miller guitar
